Developing the story for a fashion brand

How might we establish an approachable, yet high-end, visual language that doesn’t distract from the simplicity of the products and patterns?

The Challenge

The challenge was to develop a brand for Epoché, a line of high-quality leather goods designed by Angela McGrath in Vancouver, BC.

Influenced by Angela’s multidisciplinary background in visual arts, fashion design and art history, Epoché pulls together inspiration from painting, printmaking, pattern design and studies in contemporary culture.

The Approach

The juxtaposition of Angela’s patterns and the simple typography and imagery had to lend itself to Epoche’s manifesto by highlighting the combination of practicality and personal expression.

The approach for this branding project was to create an aesthetic that did not distract from the brand itself. Because Epoche is influenced by Bauhaus methodologies and a simplistic approach, the logomark and all collateral had to follow suit.

The Result

The result was a brand strategy, visual identity as well as design and marketing collateral that included a website, stationery materials and photography/videography
